"As part of a fully remote team, The Host Space is a great place for me to work when In need to see some friendly faces and get a bit of community. the guys there are always super welcoming and supportive, and the atmosphere is well curated to be conducive to getting hard work done without feeling stuffy. It's a great spot to rub shoulders with other creative professionals." - Host User
WHAT'S NEXT
2023 and beyond
The St Luke's PCC have a vision to see the next phase of the building work move forward.
Since 2020 we have been revisiting our vision for the building.
The next steps are to:
Continue the restoration
Install a café
Install an entrance that is welcoming to all
EXTERNAL WORK
We hope to look at landscaping the external areas to create a positive welcome and install architecture that draws people into our building and tells a story of the space.
We are also working to finish the external restoration work which involves re-pointing, gutter, and window repairs.
INTERNAL WORK
We are currently working to redecorate the interior, install new heating and lighting/AV equipment, restore the organ and consider a long term plan for the flooring.
We are going to pilot a café with temporary solutions for this to see what works best in the space.
We will also look at either adapting the existing entrance to make it more light and welcoming or to create a new entrance on the west side of the building.
WE WANT TO...
Remove our building from the At Risk Register.
Create a place of calm and peace in a busy city.
Create a community facility that welcomes all.
Provide a venue for small scale creative arts and music events.
Provide a Co-Working Space and Café.
Engage people with heritage, who might not be aware of the building.
